9. How To Build New Neural Pathways To Align To Your Dream Life
It’s doesn’t always boil down to potluck.
There’s a reason why some people seem to manifest effortlessly while others feel like they’re stuck in the same cycles, no matter how much they try to change. It’s not luck. It’s not even willpower.
It's how they're wired.
Even right now as you read this, your mind is filtering reality through a network of pre-existing neural pathways.
These are hardwired thought patterns that shape how you see the world, what you notice, and what you allow yourself to receive. If those pathways are wired for struggle, scarcity, or self-doubt, you will keep experiencing those things, even when better opportunities are right in front of you.
But you’re not stuck with the mind you have.
Neuroplasticity means your brain can rewire itself and form new pathways that align with success, abundance, and happiness. When you consciously shift the way your mind processes information, you train yourself to step into a completely new reality.
Once you learn to program it correctly, you open the doors to start noticing opportunities, attracting the right people, and making decisions that align with your dream life, automatically.
In this article, I’m going to share how you can use neuroplasticity to rewire your brain and alter your reality to start building new neural pathways to align and finally manifest your dream life.
So let’s break this down step by step.
Step 1: Reprogram Your Reticular Activating System
Before we talk about neural pathways, we need to address the RAS—the brain’s reality filter.
Or as I like to refer to it, our brain’s algorithm.
Your Reticular Activating System (RAS) is a small network of neurons in your brainstem that acts as a gatekeeper for your consciousness.
It’s in this part of your brain where it gets decided what information gets through and what gets ignored.
Have you ever noticed that when you decide you want a new car, you suddenly see that car everywhere? It’s not that there are more of them.
It’s that your RAS is now tuned into them.
But here’s where I need you to play extra attention: Your RAS is already filtering your reality based on your existing beliefs.
This means, that if you believe money is hard to make, your RAS will show you proof of struggle and filter out opportunities for wealth. If you think love is rare, you will literally overlook potential partners.
In the same way your explore page would do on Instagram or what your FYP would do on TikTok.
Your RAS is the first point of manifestation. If it’s not programmed correctly, you will struggle to create change, no matter how much you visualise or affirm.
How to Reprogram Your RAS:
Set a Clear Intention: Your brain needs specific instructions. Instead of vague desires like “I want to be rich,” tell your RAS, “I am a six-figure entrepreneur, and I attract wealth effortlessly.”
Use Questions to Direct Focus: The brain loves to find answers. Instead of thinking, “Why am I always struggling?” ask, “How can I make success inevitable?”
Your RAS will start filtering in solutions.
Seriously, ask out loud right now, “What way of thinking do I need to adopt to align with the version of myself who has her dream job”
Feed It New Proof: Your brain only believes what it sees repeatedly. Read success stories, surround yourself with people who embody your dream life, follow successful people online who have what you want or do what you would love to do. Stick to the genuine creatorsthey usually leave clues as to how they made their achievements, the phoneys are tightlipped and gatekeep.
Expose yourself to the reality you want.
When I started doing this, I noticed insane shifts. I used to feel stuck in a scarcity mindset, believing that making money was hard.
But once I trained my RAS to look for abundance, I started noticing new income streams, business ideas, and high-value clients, things that had always been there, but I just wasn’t seeing because my algorithm was set to a feed that looked very different.
Step 2: Identify the Neural Pathways Keeping You Stuck
Neural pathways are like roads in your brain.
The thoughts you repeat daily become well-worn dual carriage ways. Think of your neural pathways like being on A13 heading towards the Dartmouth crossing, if you know you know.
It’s the road most travelled, so travelled, that your mind automatically follows.
If you’ve spent years thinking “I’ll never be successful” “I always attract toxic people,” or “I’m not good at anything” your brain has built a strong neural pathway to reinforce those beliefs.
To change your life, you must identify the thought patterns keeping you stuck. Ask yourself:
What do I constantly think about money, work, love, success, and self-worth?
What emotions do I feel daily, and are they aligned with my dream life?
What cycles keep repeating, even when I try to change?
Call me the hustle queen! For years I had a deep-rooted belief that success had to come through hard work and grit, I believed you had to struggle through hardship to get to the other side because this is what I had been taught by society.
I even romanticised it to an extent.
Even when things were going well, I’d subconsciously sabotage myself because I didn’t feel like I had “earned” it. It felt too easy.
This belief was a neural pathway I had to break.
Step 3: Break Old Neural Pathways That No Longer Serve You
If your brain is running on old programming, you have to interrupt the cycle and weaken those pathways.
We’re no longer taking the A13, we need a new route, some back roads that you’ve never taken before, but this requires a whole new way of thinking.
How to Break Old Neural Pathways:
Pattern Interrupts: The moment you catch yourself thinking an old belief, interrupt it.
This could literally be saying “STOP” out loud, snap a rubber band on your wrist, or visualising a red X over the thought. Then replace it with a new belief.
I dont mean supressing emotions because I don’t believe in that notion. I mean teaching yourself how to quickly pivot when you make off the cuff comments that are usual in your internal dialogue.
Starve the Old Pathway: If you’re always talking about struggle, stop. If you listen to music that reinforces heartbreak, stop. If you follow social media accounts that trigger old beliefs, unfollow them. Your brain can’t maintain a pathway you no longer use.
Challenge Every Limiting Thought: Every time an old belief surfaces, ask: “Who told me this? Is it true? Where is the evidence? What if the opposite was true?”
Were so quick to make solid facts abour ourselves but very rarely do we follow up with questions. You might be surpised at the answers you recieve.
Step 4: Build New Neural Pathways That Align with Your Dream Reality
Now we’ve covered the groundwork, it’s time to create the reality you want, inside your mind first.
Because if you want something to exist physically, it must first exist mentally.
Your neural pathways strengthen through repetition, so you must make your new beliefs a daily practice.
How to Build New Neural Pathways:
Affirm & Embody: Stop saying affirmations like a robot and start acting as if they are already true.
In fact, if it doesn’t feel real when you say it, don’t say it at all, just focus on feeling good.
Sensory Visualisation: Spend 10 minutes daily imagining your dream life as if it’s happening now.
I do this every morning and night because our brain can’t tell the difference between real and imagined experiences use it to your advantage.
Use all of your senses in this practice, what can you see, hear taste, touch and see?
Surround Yourself with the New Reality: Follow people who inspire you, consume content that expands your beliefs, and make your environment reflect your desires.
List some social media accounts who make you feel like you're already at your best version. If you want financial freedom, don’t follow accounts who talk abour being broke. Follow accounts who talk about how to manage and invest money as a six figure earner.
Step 5: Regulate Your Nervous System to Accept Change
Something you need to know is that whwn tou start making these changes, your brain will resist, especially if your nervous system is stuck in survival mode.
If your body perceives new success as a threat, you will subconsciously reject it. To minimise this from happening, you want to become conscious of keeping your nervous system regulated.
Here are a few ways how:
Binaural Beats & Frequencies: These help shift brainwaves, making new pathways easier to build.
Breathwork, Meditation, Vagus Nerve Stimulation: These regulate stress responses, helping your brain accept new beliefs.
Movement & Energy Shifts: Dancing, somatic shaking, and even tapping (EFT) help release stuck emotions and create space for new programming.
Finally…
Manifestation isn’t magic, it’s neuroscience.
But now, you have the power to change the script. You know how to redirect your RAS, weaken old pathways, and build new ones that align with the reality you actually want.
Your dream life isn’t something you have to chase. It’s something you train your brain to see, accept, and embody. The moment you do that, it becomes inevitable.
