8. Affirmation Tapes Transformed My Identity, Here’s How They Can Shift Yours Too
I was always sceptical about the concept of listening to affirmation tapes, but the truth was that I didn’t understand enough about the power of my subconscious mind.
Realising my subconscious controls 95% of my thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours like an autopilot system, running scripts I picked up from childhood, social conditioning, and past experiences was enough to learn more about gaining control over my current narrative.
If those scripts were negative and filled with self-doubt, fear, or limiting beliefs, which they were, I would remain stuck, no matter how hard I tried to change on a conscious level.
Suddenly, rewiring my mind by listening to these tapes didn’t sound like such a bad idea.
Affirmation tapes are pre-recorded statements designed to reprogram your subconscious by replacing old limiting beliefs with new aligned ones.

Before start listening to affirmation tapes, be selective about where you get them from.
Not all creators have good intentions, and so some recordings may carry subtle messages that work against you rather than for you.
Even if the creator isn’t intentionally being malicious, they might not be carrying good energy at the time of recording and that can translate into what you receive through the tapes.
Here’s what to be mindful of:
Subliminal messages you can’t hear – Some affirmation tapes use subliminal recordings, where messages are hidden under frequency or nature sounds. If you can’t hear the affirmations clearly, you don’t truly know what’s being programmed into your mind.
Negative phrasing – Affirmations should always be framed in a positive way. Avoid anything that includes words like "not" or "stop," as the subconscious doesn’t process negations the way the conscious mind does.
Instead of “I am not afraid of failure,” a better affirmation would be, “I confidently embrace success.”
The energy behind the creator – Everything carries energy, including the voice and intention behind an affirmation tape. Choose recordings from sources that align with your values and goals.

3. Listen During the Best Times for Subconscious Reprogramming
Before sleep & right after waking up – This is when your brain is in theta state and most receptive.
During meditation – Playing affirmation tapes while meditating deepens the programming.
While doing mundane tasks – Repetition is key, so listening while getting reads, or exercising reinforces the new beliefs.
4. Stay Consistent for at Least 21-30 Days
Reprogramming your subconscious isn’t an overnight process, but with consistency, your new affirmations will become your dominant thought patterns. Aim for at least 30 days to start seeing shifts.
5. Combine with Visualisation & Emotion
As you listen, visualise yourself already embodying the affirmations.
Use sensory visualisation and feel the emotions of that version of you—confidence, success, abundance.
This speeds up the process and makes it even more effective.
