The 17-Second MANIFESTATION RULE Explained and Why It’s a Game-Changer in My Nightly Routine
If you are a regular visitor to the world of manifestation and a super fan of Abraham Hicks, you may have heard of The 17-second rule?
But what is it, and how can you use it to achieve your desires and manifest the life you want to live?
In this article, I’m going to break down the rule and share how I incorporate it into my evening routine to align my energy with the best version of myself and move closer to my dreams in such a short amount of time.
What is the 17-second Manifestation Rule?
In every list of my top favourite self-help books, you will find Ask And It Is Given by Abraham Hicks!
In my opinion, this book took what I knew about ‘The Secret’ to another level and cemented my interest in the mindset game.
But what blew my mind the most was when I found out it only took around 17 seconds to initiate the process of manifestation.
17 seconds! It takes me much longer to decide what I want for dinner.
When you give your undivided attention or what Esther Hicks calls ‘pure thought’ for 17 seconds, you shift your vibration, which causes a change in your energy, and the universe must respond to the frequency you vibrate at.
But get this…
17 seconds is what initiates the process of manifestation, but after 68 seconds (four sets of 17-second intervals), you amplify your vibration, sending out a signal so clear and so focused that you begin attracting your desires.
Because the Law of Attraction states like attracts like, holding a positive, high-vibrating thought for as little as 17 seconds, you naturally attract more circumstances and situations in line with that frequency.
Where I Add the 17-Second Rule to My Evening Routine
Now that you know the rules behind this powerful technique, I want to share how I weave it into my evening routine to start attracting things from my vision board.
Before Bed Visualisation
Before I drift off to sleep and while my brainwaves are in Theta mode, I use the 17-Second Rule to focus on a specific desire or goal I want to manifest.
Here’s how I do it:
I get into a relaxed state: I lie down, close my eyes, and take a few deep breaths to calm my nervous system.
I choose one desire to focus on: Whether it's hitting six figures with my blog, manifesting an opportunity, or feeling healthier and fitter in my body, I pick one thing to visualise clearly.
I hold the thought for 17 seconds: During this time, I make sure to dive deeply into the feeling of already having it using all of my senses. I imagine how it feels, can I smell the coffee in my dream home, what my life looks like, and who I can see in this vision.
Hold the thought for 68 seconds: Of course, I want to get to the good bit where my manifestation is on its way so I go through the cycle four times, making sure that my focus is sharp and uninterrupted for 68 seconds.
Doing this strengthens the vibration of that desire as I sleep, allowing my subconscious to process and align with what I want.
During My Skincare Routine
Yep, you read that right I even manifest while doing my skincare routine!
As I go through each step of my skin with my favourite serums and masks, I do the 17-Second Rule to set intentions for the next day.
I choose a desire that makes me feel abundant or powerful: It could be something small, like waking up to new followers, or something bigger, like reaching a new milestone with my YouTube channel.
I hold the thought for 17 seconds while massaging my face: This part is all about self-care, both inside and out.
I focus on the outcome I desire, and the positive energy flows through me. Even better, while I have my face mask on for 20 minutes, I use that time to zone out and use the 68-second manifesting rule.
This is another way of romanticising my evening routine while stacking a manifestation technique into the process.
Why the 17-Second Rule Works in the Evening
So, why is it important to do this in the evening?
Because, as your body prepares for sleep, your brainwaves slow down, allowing your subconscious mind to become more receptive to external influences. Making you easily influenced around this time of day.
This is the time when your conscious mind takes a break, and your subconscious mind is more open to new beliefs and ideas.
That means when you focus on positive thoughts before bed, you let your subconscious marinate in your desires all night long, speeding up the manifestation process.
