Time: The Ultimate Luxury & How To Make More Of It

In a world where everything moves faster, time has become the ultimate luxury which many can’t afford.

Time is not just money—it’s freedom, energy, and peace of mind.

For most of us, time is limited, but what if I told you there is a way to attain more from this luxury and get more out of your time? In this blog, we’ll explore how you can extract more value from your time and learn to treat it as the luxury it truly is.

Why Time is Priceless

We all know that time is a limited resource, but have you ever thought about its true value?

We often hear that time is money, but it’s much more than that. Time allows us to create memories, build relationships, and accomplish our goals. Every moment spent doing one thing is a moment that can't be spent doing something else.

Unlike money, which can be earned back, once time is gone, it’s gone forever. It’s easy to overlook this, but when you understand the true value of time you change your perspective and realise the importance of living a more intentional life.

  • It determines your legacy: What you do with your time directly impacts your life’s work and how you are remembered.

  • It’s a finite resource: The average human life spans less than a century. How you use each minute matters.

  • It reflects your priorities: Where you invest your time reveals what’s important to you—whether that’s family, career, or personal growth.

How to Get More Out of Your Time

So how do you get more out your time?

Well, while we can't create more time, we can definitely use the time we have more effectively. Here are some tips to help you get more out of your time:

The good news is that although you can’t create more hours in the day, you can learn how to get more out of the time you already have. Efficiency and intentionality are key. Here are some practical ways to stretch your minutes into meaningful, productive hours.

  • Prioritise your tasks: Use tools like time-blocking or the Eisenhower matrix to focus on what’s urgent and important. Delegate or eliminate tasks that aren’t necessary.

  • Set boundaries: Protect your time by saying no to things that don’t align with your goals or well-being. It’s okay to turn down invitations or projects that take time away from what really matters.

  • Use time pockets: Make use of those small gaps between activities. Whether it’s a 10-minute wait in line or a 5-minute break, you can use that time to check in on emails, meditate, or plan the rest of your day.

  • Automate and delegate: Outsource tasks or use technology to automate repetitive jobs. This could be hiring a virtual assistant, setting up automated bill payments, or using productivity apps.

  • Practice mindfulness: Being present can help you appreciate the moment rather than feeling like time is slipping away. Meditation or simple breathing exercises can center your mind, improving your focus.

1. Prioritise Your Tasks

One question I'm often asked is, "How do you manage Coffee Moon and Kitaka at the same time?"

The first thing is to create a system that works, for you!

Growing two businesses two jobs is being obsessed and in love with what I do, the next is planning and structuring my day. I know myself well enough to recognise that without a plan or structure in place, I'll start my mornings with online shopping, catching up on pop culture gossip, or mindlessly scrolling through social media apps. These activities can easily consume hours and leave me with little time to work.

One of the biggest time-wasters is spending too much time on trivial tasks when you could be doing something more beneficial like working on your side hustle, spending time with your family, or exercising.

To make more time for yourself, you need to prioritise your tasks and focus on the most important ones.

Start by making a to-do list in the evening for the next day. That way, as soon as you wake up, you have a plan. Then, rank your tasks in order of importance. You will find this section on the Daily Planner Notepad under "Priorities." This will help you stay focused and ensure that you're making progress on the things that matter most.

2. Use Time Management Techniques

Time management techniques such as time blocking and batching can help you make more time by increasing your productivity. For example, if you're a content creator, dedicate one day each week to creating content for the entire day. If you stay focused, you could complete a month's worth of work in just one day. How crazy is that? Four weeks of work you won't have to do, just because you managed your time well.

Break your work into smaller, more manageable chunks, and schedule specific times to work on each task. You can use Google Calendar to make this easy. By breaking your tasks down into smaller chunks, you can minimize the feeling of being overwhelmed, stay focused, and get more done in less time.

3. Learn to Say No

It's no surprise that this point ends up on most of my lists because saying yes to everything is one of the biggest time-wasters.

To make more time, say no to things that aren't important or don't align with your goals. Sure, this isn’t easy, but it's essential if you want to make more time for the things that matter. When you say no to something, you're saying yes to something else.

4. Eliminate Distractions

Distractions such as social media, and message notifications can eat up your time and reduce your productivity. To get more out of your time, eliminate these distractions as much as possible. You can do this by turning off your notifications for the day on most smartphones this requires just the switch of a button and takes less than 10 seconds, then limit your time on social media, one of doing this is by building a new habit of not even having your phone in the same room as you for the first four hours of work. This will allow you to get more time in less time.

5. Practice Self-Care

Taking care of yourself is essential if you want to make the most of your time. Your mind and body cannot run effectively when you re suffering from burnout and exhaustion. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, eating a well balanced diet, resting at least one day out of the weekend and taking breaks throughout the day.

Final thoughts

Time is the ultimate luxury, and we can never have enough of it. But by prioritising our tasks, using time management techniques, learning to say no, eliminating distractions, and practicing self-care, we can make more time in our daily lives.

These small changes can add up to big results, allowing us to focus on the things that matter and live a more fulfilling life. So, start making more time today and see how it can transform your life!
