How I’m Rewiring My Brain for a WEALTH MINDSET

The more I learn about acquiring wealth, the more I realise it takes more than knowing how to spend and invest money.

It also involves your overall thought process regarding money.

For me to acquire true wealth would mean to start adopting certain beliefs, values, and behaviours that help cultivate a mindset attracting long-term wealth and abundance into your life.

Consciously shifting your thinking and taking consistent action, you can establish a solid foundation for financial prosperity and enjoy its benefits.

In this article, I’m sharing the key changes I’ll be making to rewire my brain for wealth and abundance.

Changing My Beliefs About Money

For me, money was often associated with stress and never having enough. To shift this, I need to work on changing these deep-seated beliefs and creating a new thought pattern.

Replacing negative thoughts with new affirmations will shift my perspective on what it means to have money but most importantly change my emotions around the subject to send out a higher frequency.

Start by taking some time to deeply reflect on your current beliefs about money.

Are there any limiting beliefs that you may be holding onto, such as the belief that:

  • "Money doesn’t grow on trees"

  • "Rich people are liars"

  • “They must have scammed someone to be able to afford that”

  • “We don’t have any wealthy people in our family”

  • “Financial freedom doesn’t happen to people who look like us”

These might even have been statements you constantly heard growing up as a child.

It's important to understand these are limiting beliefs and although you cannot change what has been said in the past, you can now challenge these beliefs and replace them with more empowering and positive statements.

The key to wealth is to be more in tune with your own money story. Once you are aware of the negative patterns, you can change them
— David Bach

For instance, you can begin affirming statements such as :

  • "I am deserving of abundance and wealth"

  • "Money flows effortlessly and abundantly into my life".

*This is how you consciously rewire your subconscious mind to program new thought patterns and create powerful shifts in your relationship with money.

Set Clear Financial Goals

To create a wealth mindset, you need a clear vision of what financial success looks like to you. It’s not enough to think “I want to earn more money,”

More money to do what? No one wants more money just to look at it.

I needed to decide how a life of financial freedom looked as my dream version, and how much would I need to live a certain lifestyle. Now, I set specific goals and timelines to hold myself accountable.

It is crucial to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve to create a solid plan that will lead you to success.

Before you throw any figure out there, think about what you want out of life right now, what would you use the money for?

Do you want to travel more, do you want more money to spend on maintenance, maybe you want to purchase a car or a home, or it could simply be enough to eat at a restaurant without looking at the price?

Find out why you want more money, and what you would to do with it.

Then, work out how much you would need to experience financial freedom and think of the different ways you could experience having this amount of money.

Do not get attached to the ‘how’ the how is not important but noting down a few ways of how this money could come to you allows you to get creative.

Reaching your financial goals isn’t meant to be difficult or a challenge, no matter what society says.

So you should find ways to make money that are easy for you.

What do you enjoy doing for fun?

What feels like work to others but feels like play to you?

Practice visualisation and imagine yourself living the life you desire as often as you can. This will serve as a constant reminder and motivation to stay dedicated on your journey towards building wealth.

Surrounding Myself with Abundance

Everything is energy, and energy is contagious. To fully embody a wealth mindset it’s important I become conscious of surrounding myself with people who are also striving to become the best versions of themselves.

This doesn’t mean cutting off friends who aren’t wealthy or aren’t building a wealth mindset, but becoming more intentional about the type of content I consume, who I’m learning from, and the conversations I have frequently.

One way to expand your network and increase your exposure to a wealth mindset is by actively seeking out opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals.

Surrounding yourself with people who have a positive mindset towards wealth and money can have a positive impact on your mindset and behaviours towards financial abundance.

We all know that one person who always complains about money, they never have enough, the ‘system’ is working against them and that’s why they can’t attain wealth.

You could also join networking groups where you meet and interact with individuals who share similar goals and aspirations.

The best thing about modern-day networking is that you don’t have to leave the house to meet people who are aligned with your interests.

sign up for online webinars, workshops and Facebook groups focused on building wealth, finances, entrepreneurship and business, interact with other participants in the comments and perhaps share your social media handle to keep in touch.

By surrounding yourself with positive influences, you will not only gain new knowledge and perspectives but also start to adopt similar mindsets and behaviours that can contribute to your own personal and financial growth.

Building My Financial Literacy

Back in school, I wish they would have taught us about how to handle finances. Although thinking about it, I’m not confident any of my teachers would have known enough themselves to teach us.

In the past, I would avoid anything that sounded complicated, like investments or the stock market, because it felt intimidating. But I’ve realised this attitude will not help me long-term and have now committed to becoming financially literate.

Financial education takes skill, and someone who knows what they’re talking about to teach it.

Money experts are not hard to find, many have written books, been a guest on podcasts or run their own services.

Don’t do what I did for years and push it to the side making excuses as to why I didn’t need to learn about money right now.

Remain a student of wealth, the more you know the more you have to work with.

Follow a range of topics such as investment strategies, personal finance management, and wealth-building techniques.

This will keep you well-equipped with the tools necessary to navigate the ever-evolving financial landscape.

Don't underestimate the power of reading books written by these accomplished individuals, as they often offer valuable lessons and perspectives that can help shape your own journey towards wealth and success.

Two books which completely changed the way I looked at money were:

The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel

I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi

Continue your journey of lifelong learning and constantly strive to enhance your financial knowledge.

Results so far: This newfound understanding has given me more control over my money, actually saved me money and made financial growth feel more attainable.

I’ve even started making investment decisions with more confidence, something I never believed was something I could do.

Embody my Wealthiest Version

One of the most transformative parts of rewiring my brain for wealth has been embodying the version of myself who already has the wealth I desire. I ask myself:

  • What does she think?

  • How does she move through the world?

  • What does she spend her money on, and how does she manage her time?

  • How does she talk about money?

Become the person who has wealth. Don’t wait to see the money in your account before you start acting as though you are wealthy, begin to embody that person right now. You don’t attract what you want, you attract who you are.

And to truly embody the person who has wealth, it is important to go beyond just acquiring financial resources.

Becoming a wealthy person is about cultivating habits and taking consistent action that aligns with your financial goals.

Not only does it involve the way you talk, dress, and think, but also the choices you make on a daily basis.

Start by adopting the habits the best version of you in financial freedom would have.

Does your wealthiest version budget, save, invest, or all three?

Think less from a place of lack embrace a mindset of abundance and positivity, and surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you to achieve more.

Act the way you want to be, and soon you will be the way you act
— Les Brown

Dress the part and present yourself in a way that reflects your wealthy status. This could be dressing a little more luxe on your days off, or making sure you always wear some accessories on a casual day because that’s how your wealthy version might present themselves.

Finally…

When you consistently embody and apply these qualities and make choices that align with your financial aspirations, the universe has to respond, opportunities must open up to you and gradually you will see yourself transforming into a person who has wealth.

This was the very first episode I listened to which featured Joe Dispenza where my whole mindset completely shifted. Everything looked different after this.

It was this episode which led me to my interest in the link between neuroscience and manifestation.
