Transform Your Reality Using INTENTION

Do you ever feel like you're living your life on autopilot, just going through the motions without really experiencing life?

If so, you're not alone.

95% of your reality is created using your subconscious mind. This means thinking and doing from a pattern of habits and beliefs without really knowing what you’re doing or why you’re doing it.

We get caught up in the daily grind, and then before we know it, weeks, months and even years have passed, and we wonder where the time went.

Living with intention helps you craft your life with purpose and mindfulness rather than letting it be shaped by external influences or unconscious habits.

It’s about knowing your values, setting meaningful goals, and making deliberate choices that align with who you truly want to become.

As someone who has spent time uncovering what it means to live an intentional life, I’ve found this journey to be both powerful and transformative.

In this article, I’m going to share how you can transform your reality simply by using intention.

Desire vs. Intention

Growing up I had lots of desires, lots of ideas, various things I wanted to do in life, over a hundred personal rebrands between wanting to live a luxurious lifestyle, then a subtlety luxurious life, to feeling fulfilled from making an impact and my mark on the world which has never changed.

But at twenty you never truly feel in control of where your life is going.

It was only when I deep-dived further into self-development I learned the power of intention setting including clear, actionable plans that I began to notice real shifts in my life.

My mornings transformed from mood-swinging, with no activity other than mindlessly scrolling on my phone consuming whatever would come up on the screen to practising rituals that aligned me to my purpose.

Identify Your Values and Goals

Once I realised this, I felt pushed to make some lifestyle changes. I had to decide what my values and goals were because the routine I was in wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t going to get me close to where I wanted to be.

A few things I started to do differently were prioritising sleep, boosting my serotonin by adding more movement into my day, and rethinking how I nourished my body.

The result? A more exciting outlook on life and what I could achieve and an intentional way of living.

Think about your core values.

Is it freedom, creativity, health, or meaningful relationships?

Once you know your values, you can set goals that are in alignment.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s important to you right now?

  • What do you want to achieve in life?

  • What do you want to change about yourself?

  • Set one or two long-term goals for each value.

  • Create short-term actions that bring you closer to these goals.

These are the kinds of questions you should ask yourself, reflect on them and write your answers down.

Once you have a clear understanding of what you intend to do, use it as a guide for making decisions and taking steps towards your goals.

Embodying the Version of Yourself You Want to Be

Identifying your goals and values is just the beginning if you want to see a transformation it’s time to embody the version of yourself you wish to be.

I do this by taking a few moments to visualise my dream life, down to the most specific details using my five senses to imagine my dream life, as my dream version.

My goal in the morning is to match that energy of my bet version.

Would I rather spend an extra hour in bed under the duvet, than lace up my trainers and go for a walk? Yes.

Is that something the best version of myself would do as a woman who prioritises her health and fitness? Nope.

I invest time, energy, and sometimes money into habits that bring me closer to the ‘future me’. It’s within these little shifts I’m reminded of the kind of life I’m creating, even if the results aren’t immediate.

Key Steps to Embody Your Intentions:

  • Visualise your highest self and write down qualities you wish to embody.

  • Make daily choices that align with that version of yourself.

  • Celebrate even the smallest actions that reflect your growth, no win is too small.

Build New Habits

One of the first habits I worked on was building a morning routine that made me feel as though I was in the process of transformation and aligned.

I knew that to become the version of myself who felt abundant and focused, I had to completely disassociate from my current routine and start again.

So, I designed a routine that felt productive but at the same time achievable. The best thing I was realising was to make this change, I didn’t have to do anything too drastic.

I stuck to my morning coffee (which is a permanent fixture) and instead of going straight into writing after getting dressed, I would go for a 20-minute neighbourhood walk.

Keeping my new routine simple meant I was able to stick to it and eventually build on it with a longer walk and a few more steps such as subconscious reprogramming, and other ways to regulate my nervous system.

Now, it’s second nature.

Habits are the building blocks of your daily routine, and effective when being intentional about who you want to become and creating the life you want to live. The key is to be strategic and patient. This isn’t an overnight process, it’s about introducing one habit at a time and making it as easy as possible to remain consistent.

I’ll be honest and prepare you before you even start, no matter how well you build new habits, how well you embody the best version of yourself, or how well you define your values and life goals…

Nothing will take you over the finish line quicker than discipline.

There will be days where you are on a roll, you’ve gained momentum and you can’t believe the progress you’ve made, and then suddenly, one random day (or morning in my case) you just can’t do it. There’s no motivation and no drive that will make you continue.

There were days I’d promise myself a workout or a walk to get some steps, only to get distracted or laziness would take over. I learned like most things that require a glow-up, that discipline isn’t something you magically develop overnight; it’s built through repetition.

Becoming Mindful of What You Consume

Becoming intentional isn’t only about creating new habits. Intentional is not only what you feed your body, it’s also what you feed your mind.

I started taking notice of how I felt after scrolling through Instagram, watching certain movies, and listening to particular styles of music.

Endless hours of scrolling through social media feeling anxious and uninspired, made me look a what I was consuming and become intentional about the content I would see when I opened up my phone which made a huge difference in what it meant to mindlessly scroll, all of a sudden it didn’t feel so bad.

If you feel that consuming social media makes you feel anxious or stressed, challenge yourself to a social media detox or limit your time on the app, unfollow accounts that trigger negative emotions and make you feel as though you have to compare.

If you don’t want to take a break from the apps work the time you spend on them in your favour. Deliberately follow feel-good accounts, the kind of accounts that make you feel hopeful and motivated to become a happier you.

Ask yourself:

Does what I’m consuming bring me closer to my goals, or does it distract and drain me?

This includes the media you watch, the social content you engage with, and the people you surround yourself with.

Tips for Mindful Consumption:

  • Audit your social media feed and unfollow accounts that don’t inspire you.

  • Invest time in learning and activities that nourish your soul.

  • Surround yourself with people who uplift and support your growth.

Finally…

Remember to take each day as it comes. Intentional living isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress and staying true to your inner compass.
