CHIEF REFRACTRIONS OFFICER
Nova Moon | Full Time | In-House Residency Required
The House of Selene is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Nova Moon team in the role of Chief Refractions Officer. This is not an entry-level position.
About The Role
As a CRO, you are responsible for the full lifecycle of crystal stemware across Nova Moon and the wider House estate. You will report directly to our Head Chef and work closely with their team.
The right candidate understands that a glass is not merely a vessel. It is a statement. It is the first thing a member touches before the food arrives, and the last thing she remembers after she leaves. Under no circumstances is it to be held by the bowl.
Responsibilities include:
The inspection, cleaning, and polishing of all crystal stemware before and after every service.
Maintenance of the correct hanging angle in the Nova Moon cellar. The precise degree of which will be communicated during onboarding
Pre-service acoustic assessment of each piece, conducted by tap, to confirm structural integrity.
Seasonal rotation of the ceremonial Baccarat collection currently displayed in the east cabinet.
Sourcing recommendations for new crystal acquisitions, subject to final approval by the Head Chef
Management of the stemware inventory log, updated weekly and submitted to Marguerite every Monday before nine.
The Pre-Service Hold Assessment
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to hold a glass. This is not a formality.
About You
You have strong opinions about Riedel versus Zalto and are prepared to defend them. You notice when light hits a surface incorrectly. You do not use the word cute to describe glassware. You are not fazed by silence and are comfortable with precision work. You have never, not once, put crystal in a dishwasher.
Desirable but not essential: Prior experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or a deep personal investment in the behaviour of light through glass.
Not desirable under any circumstances: A casual relationship with stemware. An inability to distinguish between polishing and wiping. The belief that all glasses are essentially the same.
Compensation
Competitive. Discussed at the final stage. Includes full access to the Nova Moon cellar during non-service hours.
